A motorcyclist died Monday night from injuries sustained in an accident earlier in the day on the city's West Side.
Carlo Kintanar, 31, of the 1000 block of Redondo Drive in southwest suburban Romeoville, hit a pothole and was thrown from his bike in the 2600 block of South Damen Avenue.
He was then hit and pinned under a vehicle trailing him, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
The other driver braked, but was unable to avoid the collision, Perez said. He was not ticketed.
The area is heavily industrial, and there were construction barriers on the street, but it was not known if that played any role in the accident. Perez said.
The accident happened at 11:57 a.m. Kintanar was pronounced dead at 9:25 p.m. at Stroger Hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Kintanar was wearing a helmet, but it came off after he was hit, Perez said.
