Rallying for DREAM Act, immigration reforms
Royal Poll: Who Should Play Kate Middleton on Broadway?
Like the rest of the planet, we at Broadway.com got up reeeallly early on April 29 to watch Catherine Elizabeth Middleton walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in her Grace Kelly-like wedding gown to wed Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of the house of Windsor. While waiting—along with Elton John and David Beckham—for the bride to arrive, we began mentally casting the role of Kate in a fantasy musical version of the royal love story. Take a look at the following list of lovely ladies and tell us: Which actress should play Kate Middleton on Broadway? Vote now!

The Lady?s Saying! A Frank and Funny Chat with the Unbeatable Patti LuPone on Musicals, Memoirs and More (Glee!)
When you’ve got the currently-hot career of Broadway icon Patti LuPone, you gotta know how to multitask. On the day the beloved two-time Tony Award winner paid a visit to Show People, she had already had an early-morning filming on the set of Glee and a rehearsal at New York City Ballet for her upcoming appearance in Seven Deadly Sins. Despite the busy day, LuPone was in high spirits as she chatted with host Paul Wontorek about the the Kurt Weill rarity, the recent artistically-satisfying-yet-commercially-disappointing run of the musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (thankfully preserved on the upcoming Ghostlight Records CD), her must-read memoir and her festive summer vacation plans (man soup, anyone?). Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Patti LuPone!

Squigs Says Hello to Donna Murphy and The People in the Picture
As Broadway welcomes the new time-travelling musical The People in the Picture onto the boards, Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson set out to welcome two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy to her role as Bubbie, a grandmother and Holocaust survivor in 1970s New York City. Through her storytelling, Bubbie brings the people in a faded photograph (Alexander Gemignani, Joyce Van Patten, Christopher Innvar, Hal Robinson, Chip Zien and Lewis J. Stadlen) to life for her granddaughter Jenny (Rachel Resheff), who loves nothing more than hearing her grandmother’s stories of life as a Yiddish theater star in pre-war Poland, to the dismay of her mother, Red (Nicole Parker). Check out Squigs' stunning portrait of these People, then head to Studio 54 to meet them in person.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and ...

Wanted: Miracle
According to the Catholic church, which has made thousands such distinctions in its history, one miracle is required for beatification, two for sainthood. This Sunday more than 300,000 Catholics are expected in Rome for a ceremony beatifying Pope John Paul II, declaring the late pontiff "blessed" based on his first miracle: a French nun with Parkinson's disease wrote his name on a piece of paper before going to bed one night, and woke up the next morning cured.…

Chico Mann's Multicultural New York Hybrid
Considering that he plays guitar in Brooklyn's Antibalas it should come as no surprise that Marcos Garcia refracts the cross-generational, pan-stylistic sounds of his solo project Chico Mann through the prism of Afrobeat. "Harmonía," the opening track on his recent Analog Drift (Wax Poetics), serves as well as any of its tunes as a model for his approach: hypnotic post-Fela organ riffs, brittle funk guitar, primitive beatbox rhythms, synthetic bass ostinatos, soulful but scrappy Spanish-language singing, and a countermelody that seems cribbed from Sheila E.'s "Glamorous Life" combine to deliver a giddy but low-key celebration of New York's multicultural 70s and 80s.…
