Original Annie star Andrea McArdle and Broadway alum Cary Shields (Rent, Taboo) will star in the summer-camp themed tuner Greenwood at the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Seven performances will be held on October 6, 8, 11, 12, 15 and 16 at off-Broadway's Peter Norton Space, directed by Paul Stancato.
In addition to McArdle and Shields, the cast will include Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer), Mary Mossberg, Alicia Morton (another Annie alum, from the 1999 TV movie version) and McArdle’s real-life daughter, Alexis Kalehoff. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Greenwood features a book, music and lyrics by Grammy-nominated producer Tor Hyams and writer/director/actor Adam LeBow. Based on experiences they shared at the performing arts camp French Woods, the show centers on group of friends who try to recreate their camp experience by reuniting 25 years later through social networking. Their past and present selves come crashing together and sparks fly, illuminating the way to the future.
