Life was much sweeter for the stars of Stephen Karam’s Sons of the Prophet than it is for their catastrophe-ridden characters on October 20. On that night, the buzzed-about Roundabout Theater Company production, billed as “a comedy about human suffering,” officially opened at off-Broadway’s Laura Pels Theatre. The show stars Joanna Gleason as a former book editor who hires Joseph Douaihy (Santino Fontana), the elder son of a Lebanese family in Pennsylvania that never loses its sense of humor no matter what. After the curtain came down on this darkly funny piece, the talented cast, along with playwright Karam and director Peter DuBois, went out on the town to enjoy their accomplishment.
