Appeals court hears U. of I. dispute with Tribune

Judges appear skeptical about whether the release of student-applicant information is a federal issue

A federal appeals court Friday expressed unwillingness to rule on whether the University of Illinois should be forced to release information on hundreds of student applicants, a stance that could prolong an already 2-year-old legal dispute between the school andthe Chicago Tribune.
