Heather Jane Rolff has completed the cast of Fat Pig as Helen, the plus-sized woman referred to in the play's title. The play, written and directed by Neil LaBute, will begin its Broadway run April 12 at the Belasco Theatre, with opening night set for April 26.
Rolff previously appeared on Broadway in Shrek the Musical and has toured in Les Miserables. Her off-Broadway credits include Wanda's World and Pirates of Penzance.
Fat Pig follows an overweight woman, Helen, who forms a relationship with a thinner man named Tom. Their relationship begins to struggle when Tom's friends have difficulty accepting her appearance. As previously announced Josh Hamilton will star as Tom alongside Dane Cook as his friend Carter and Julia Stiles as Tom's former flame, Jeannie.
The original off-Broadway production of Fat Pig opened at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on December 15, 2004, produced by MCC Theater and directed by Jo Bonney. The well-reviewed production starred Andrew McCarthy as Carter, Jeremy Piven as Tom, Keri Russell as Jeannie and Ashlie Atkinson as Helen. It won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play.
