Gerard Canonico, a veteran of Broadway's Spring Awakening and American Idiot, will be featured in Anna Kerrigan's The Talls, the second production of Second Stage Theatre's Uptown Series. Carolyn Canter directs this world premiere, which will run August 1-27 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on the Upper West Side, with opening night set for August 15.
In addition to Canonico, the cast of The Talls includes Timothee Chalamet, Shannon Esper, Lauren Holmes, Michael Oberholtzer, Peter Rini and Christa Scott-Reed.
The Talls is a coming-of-age dramedy that centers on the 17-year-old Isabelle Clarke and her family, dealing with Catholicism, politics and virginity in the 1970s. The play features scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Jenny Mannis, lighting design by Japhy Weideman and sound design by M.L. Dogg.
Created as a program to help develop and provide exposure for the voices of a new generation of theater artists, the Second Stage Theatre Uptown Series seeks to develop the skills of emerging playwrights, to provide early-career artists with the support of a major artistic institution and to create new plays for the American theater.
