Two stage legends and a co-star who’s won four Tonys: We’re talking, of course, about James Earl Jones, Vanessa Redgrave and Boyd Gaines, the trio of theatrical titans who are currently headlining the hit Broadway production of Alfred Uhry’s Driving Miss Daisy. Our resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson headed to the Golden Theatre to see the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, and his latest portrait captures all the charm—and in Redgrave’s case, the feistiness—of the driver (Jones as Hoke), the driven (Redgrave as Miss Daisy) and the man who tries to manage them both (Gaines as the title character's loving son, Boolie).
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet.
