London Cast Recording of The Wizard Of Oz, Starring Michael Crawford, Gets June Release Date in U.S.

The cast recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber's new London production of The Wizard Of Oz, starring Michael Crawford as the Wizard and Danielle Hope as Dorothy Gale, will be released in America on June 28, on the Decca Broadway label. The musical began performances on February 7, 2011 at the London Palladium on the West End.

In addition to songs from the beloved Oscar-winning film score for The Wizard of Oz—“Over the Rainbow,” “Follow the Yellow Brick Road,” “If I Only Had a Brain” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard”—the 24-track recording features new songs by Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, their first collaboration in more than 30 years. The pair previously worked together on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita.

In addition to Tony and Olivier winner Crawford and West End newcomer Hope, who won the 2010 British reality TV talent search, the cast The Wizard of Oz  features Edward Baker-Duly (Tin Man), David Ganly (Cowardly Lion), Paul Keating (Scarecrow), Emily Tierney (Glinda) and Hannah Waddingham (Wicked Witch Of The West).
