Casting Directors for The Book of Mormon, Follies & More Win Artios Awards

The Casting Society of America presented its 27th annual Artios Awards on September 26 in dual ceremonies held at District 36 in New York and the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Presented yearly for outstanding achievement in casting for film, television and theater, the awards are based on the criteria of originality, creativity and contribution of casting to the overall quality of a project.

Winners in theater categories are as follows:

New York Broadway Theater – Drama: The Normal Heart, Bernard Telsey and Will Cantler

New York Broadway Theater – Comedy: Good People, David Caparelliotis

New York Broadway Theater – Musical: The Book of Mormon, Carrie Gardner

New York Theatre – Comedy/Musical: Trust, Mele Nagler

New York Theatre – Drama: Three Sisters, James Calleri

Regional Theater East: Follies, Laura Stanczyk

Regional Theater West: August: Osage County, Samantha Barrie; Leap of Faith, Bernard Telsey and Justin Huff

Los Angeles Theater: Much Ado About Nothing, Michael Donovan

Winners in the television categories included two shows filmed in New York with a large contingent of stage actors, The Good Wife (Mark Saks) and Boardwalk Empire (Ellen Lewis). Whoopi Goldberg took home the New York Apple Award at the NYC ceremony, hosted by Michael Urie.
