Movie star Ben Stiller and TV favorite Edie Falco lead the cast in the Broadway revival of John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves, an absurdist comedy set in 1965 on the day of the pope’s visit to New York. Stiller plays an aspiring songwriter (and full-time zookeeper) from Queens caught between the demands of his schizophrenic wife (Falco) and his brassy mistress (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Broadway.com sent Word of Mouth reviewers Amy, Tony and Lorin to check out the play, which opened on April 25 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Were they charmed by the wacky goings-on at Blue Leaves?
