Man reported kidnapped from W. Side; car also missing

Authorities were searching for a 45-year-old man who was reported kidnapped Saturday from the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Chicago police said the man's vehicle, a red Chevrolet Blazer with Illinois license plate D1S570, was also missing.

The kidnapping was reported about 1:45 p.m. near West Cermak Road and South Keeler Avenue, police said.

A police radio message indicated the man was being held for ransom.

Harrison Area detectives were conducting the investigation, and further details weren't immediately available this afternoon.
