Follies Standout Danny Burstein on Lusting After Bernadette Peters, Second-Acting Broadway and Fervent Fans

With his current acclaimed turn as Buddy Plummer in the hit revival of Follies, Broadway’s Danny Burstein is certainly not singing the blues. In fact, after jumping from The Drowsy Chaperone to South Pacific to Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown right into Follies with barely a break, this stand-up standout is on a roll. Paul Wontorek was happy to welcome the two-time Tony nominee to Show People this week, where Burstein talked about his teenage years lusting after onstage wife Bernadette Peters, the heartbreak of working on new musicals that fail, great friend and mentor Tony Randall (check out his spot-on impersonation!) and why he’s happy to say “I love my wife” about Broadway spouse Rebecca Luker. Click on for all the fun!
