1 dead, two seriously wounded in separate shootings

A man was shot dead and two others were wounded in separate shootings Monday night on the city's West and Far South Sides.

Police responded to a call of a person shot about 7 p.m. on the 700 block of East 130th Place. When they arrived police found a 40-year-old man who was shot in the head. The man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Fifteen minutes earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot on the 11000 block of South Racine Avenue.

Preliminary reports said the man was standing on the street when someone approached and shot him in the side. The man was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital.

Just before 9 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot multiple times on the 1500 block of South Ridgeway Avenue on the West Side.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

As of 12:15 a.m. this morning, no was in custody for any of the shootings.

Calumet Area and Harrison Area detectives were investigating.
