Jeanna de Waal will take over the role of Heather in American Idiot on December 14 at the St. James Theatre. Mary Faber, who originated the role, played her final performance on December 12 in order to begin rehearsals for the upcoming revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying opposite Daniel Radcliffe.
De Waal recently completed a yearlong run in the West End's We Will Rock You. She previously workshopped the musical The Boys in the Photograph by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton.
American Idiot opened on Broadway on April 20, 2010, and received three Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. The show stars John Gallagher Jr. as Johnny, Michael Esper as Will, Stark Sands as Tunny, Rebecca Naomi Jones as Whatsername, Christina Sajous as The Extraordinary Girl and Tony Vincent as St. Jimmy.
