CTA train evacuated after report of smoke

A CTA train was evacuated this morning after reports of smoke in the Red Line subway, officials said.

Firefighters searched the tunnel at the Roosevelt station at about 8:30 a.m. but found no trace of smoke, officials said. One train was evacuated there as a precaution, a CTA spokeswoman said.

Red Line trains were temporarily diverted to the elevated tracks during the emergency response.
