The 35-member cast of the forthcoming Broadway production of War Horse has been announced. The acclaimed drama, adapted by Nick Stafford from the novel by Michael Morpurgo, will begin previews on March 15 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and open on April 14, directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris.War Horse will be presented by Lincoln Center Theater and the National Theatre of Great Britain in association with Bob Boyett.
Seth Numrich, who is currently playing Lorenzo in the Broadway production of The Merchant of Venice, has won the central role of Albert in War Horse. At the outbreak of World War I, Albert’s beloved horse, Joey, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, embarks on a mission to find him and bring him home.
