Squigs Captures a Bewigged Jeffrey Wright & Friends in A Free Man of Color

Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson tackled a truly color-ful assignment when he headed up to Lincoln Center Theater to draw the larger-than-life denizens of A Free Man of Color. Set in New Orleans at the turn of the 19tth century, John Guare’s epic play features Jeffrey Wright as dandified Jacques Cornet and mos as his not-so-faithful servant, Murmur. Squigs captured the stars and supporting cast in all their bewigged glory. To see Wright & Co. in person, head up to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre!

About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Photo by Matthew Murphy
